What have I been up.
On Friday night I went to a party at Mag Rock a restaurant and hotel that overlooks a sick rock formation and has a view of the Outer Reef. It was super fun, the Djs for the event I had met the weekend before at the San Juan Del Sur pool crawl. The pool crawl is a definite must go at least once when visiting the area. It is three consecutive pool parties where the entry fee gives you access to the shuttles that go to the next place. Anyway, Mag rock as shown below is beautiful and a great spot for evening sunset dinner. The first person is my buddy Simon and the second one is Ricardo. Both of the work in Iguana Simon with NSR and Ricky at the beach club restaurant. I took the video when we where at Mag Rock earlier in the day because we had planned to SUP at the wave right next to the rock but it turned out to be blown out as well. 4 hours later the above photo is what went down.
The surf has been good and the barrels have been all time. Each day it seems like I get a better one. Here is a video of a couple clips I filmed and threw together over the last couple days. These are no means the best time during the day or even the best waves of the swell that came through. This beach is an amazing beach and while it has had decent size everyday these are basically "off days" but I have to mention I still surfed twice a day on these off days. The conditions here change so often it could be going off and ten minutes later it is closed-out or not tubing at all. Same thing for if you paddle out when its mediocre. Yesterday morning when I paddled out it was a little choppy not great conditions. The right when it started to rain it turned into sheet glass with peaks all over. Enjoy.
