Gigante. Futbol. Thunderstorms.
Yesterday I went with Simon(Pictured below) to Gigante to watch the World Cup. Gigante is about 20-30 mins away on the motos on a strictly dirt road. It is a quick fun ride over there. We went because there really is not Place in Iguana to watch the games and we wanted to see the Swiss game against France. I know we lost. Although we did get some morale goals at the end of the game to keep the spirits up for the next game. Honestly it was just an off game. They play Honduras next and need a win to move on.
We watched the game at a hostel in Gigante at there in house bar the Crowbar as seen above. It is a really cool atmosphere and everyone there was into the game. After watching our Swiss team loss we cruised down the street to a taco stand in the main part of town for some fresh fish and chicken tacos. It was great quality food and a good little break before the next game which was Honduras and Ecuador.
Once the second game was over (Honduras lost and now has no chance of making to the bracket play) we headed over to a brick over pizza place. On Friday nights this pizza place does a buffet style pizza for 40 cords a slice of high quality pizza. We were there for a couple hours with some people we had met earlier that day watching the game. It is a great atmosphere. You grab a table and wait for a fresh pizza that looks good to roll out of the outside brick oven. It is a waiting game though you wait for what looks good and can literally have a slice of six different pizzas in one night. We were ready to roll out and that is when me and Simon's adventure began.....
I will start off by saying it rained a little......
The video above is how hard it was raining when we had to stop on the ride home to wait it out for a little while. We were soaked to say the least. It was an adventure. The video was taken from a bar that had its lights on that we sheltered under for a little while. When is rains here it pours. On that ride it probably rained more then all year in Southern California. Riding down the main road back to Iguana the sky was lighting up every minute or so with flashes of lightning. It took a while to get back because we took it super slow on the motos as the road wet and muddy. It was quite the day long adventure. One more note you honestly do not realize from this video how hard it was raining.
One last part of this post. This is the video I made of the last swell for NSR it has a different soundtrack then the one published for NSR but all the same amazing clips at this amazing beach. Enjoy! Comment! Share! and SURF!
