Cafe

I am sitting at the Cafe I always go to, it is not open all day, just until 2 pm.  The place is called Bar Ingles, strange though charming considering I have not heard a single word of English spoken her besides my interjections of spanglish. It is easy for my mom to understand how small this place is because it is the same length as our kitchen except double the width.  For the rest of the readers the Cafe is the size of the smallest possible garage that could fit a ford focus.

Not during siesta because the owner closes and does not take a siesta.

So its a coffee shop/ bar.....they also sell some small pastries and sandwiches.
I am currently sitting outside(well I was) writing this on an old fashion note pad where I will go and type it up on my computer soon, I am enjoying a Cafe con Leche and a Sandwich Mixto(its a grilled ham and cheese).

Did I mention how good it is.
As I walked up the owner knew my order " Cafe con Leche amigo"  "Si y Sandwich Mixto por favor"

Sitting alone at a table on the sidewalk, in front of the cafe, in the sun as it is not too hot out, I reflect on some of the finer days in Valencia, Spain.  I hear crickets chirping and birds singing mixed with the soft white noise of engines purring and the occasional patter of footsteps behind me. This is Spain, Europe, Adventure.  For me this is nowhere near the end but for the rest of the class a month abroad means the end of their journey.  Back across the pond, they go to study, to work, to strive, and to succeed in whatever path they choose.  Some are coaches, some own shops, some are in community college, some from Canada, some from China, but all are Journalists and after this endeavour, connections to a greater world.

But as I sit here (sandwich just arrived!) I wonder what is next.  I know where I am headed but no clue the adventure, the people, the sights.
Well wait! What are the finer days in Valencia?  Everyday is the answer to that question.
This Place is incredible:

The list goes on and on from walks around town to talking to interesting people.

As I leave Valencia Friday I head to Barcelona to meet up with the same people I met less than a month ago.  Five more days in beautiful Barcelona,  maybe I will go to the beach or walk in the gardens,  visit Sagrada Familia, who knows. It does not really matter.  The tourist attractions are not why I travel, the people I become friends with are, this is the reason why the Europe Connect project is so important to me. Documenting the connections of people I meet.

I was extremely regretful in not doing this project back when I was in Portugal but I shall be there in eight days and will be meeting up with some really good friends and possibly meeting some new ones along the way.

Some other things to check out.....
the Spain Page for Bullfighting photo essay
the Europe Connect Page for more portraits

And of course share comment and refer to the world as there will be more content to come soon.
