Rob stayed in Iguana for about a Month with Flacco. Hawaii guy living in Hermosa. He became a dentist for a day and pushed my tooth back into place when I nearly knocked it out. Makes a dank breakfast and always had a Tona to share.
Mostly referred to as Flacco, he rents a condo every year in Iguana for about a month in search of those perfect barrels out front. Insisting the marinated chicken from Rivas is the best thing ever created. It does taste pretty good on a side note. Loves his Tomo surfboard. Originally there with Gus(no picture) he keeps a keen eye on the surf, and is always out when its good.
Venice Ca charger Simon Einstein. Spent the whole summer with this guy, had some crazy adventures, surf sessions, and a few too many nights in San Juan del Sur. Living in Portugal now; I worked with him at NSR. Check the blog, he comes up quite a bit.
He has a twin. Sam Einstein came down for a couple weeks to stay with his brother and get some perfect barrels. Spent countless hours trading perfect lefts (and alot of close outs) with Sam. Sam Juan Del Sur is also residing in Portugal.
Armando Lopez is the man. Shooting photography and other things, like surf lessons under NSR. Dj Codo knows how to party and has a great attitude all the time. We worked closely together this summer and definitely made the most of our time. Great guy and photographer.
Roberto Garcia is NIcaragua. This guy is one of the best photographers in NIca. Always getting the best shots and doing it with a smile... most of the time. Some of the most memorable times this summer were with this guy while working. The very first night at the bar solidified our friendship in stone.
The new SImon. Theo came around with only a couple weeks left for me. He came in to replace Simon's position as a guest services guy. He also has been handling the lens quite well recently I have noticed.
She worked in the office at NSR and always talked about going out with us at night. Though that never happened, she was always down to have a couple beers after work. One cool person.
Simon and Sams friend from Germany. A great surfer, he works at a surf shop in Germany and frequently surfs in Portugal. He came to Nica to visit the boys and then ended up staying after we all left with MIles to continue living the adventure for surf.
Miles Krumpak another one of Sam and Simon's friends, but he is from Venice and grew up with the two. Having spent a year in Chile he learned to respect the relaxed pace. Super easy going, and awesome dude. He brought one board and one pair of boardshorts. The boardshorts had a rip, within the first week, in the butt of the shorts but he still wore them everyday in the water.
The beach club restaurant owner from Lunch to Dinner. Her food kills it and she makes the best nachos I have ever had.
Mago is one of the bar tenders at the Beach club bar. He spoke little English, except for what you would need to run a bar. I always talked to him in Spanish, even though mine is terrible, but he would help me and of course laugh.
English teacher in the Iguana community. She always went out and partied with us. She was great company too. I would always talk to her at the beach club.
Marc is the man. I was friends with his son John when I first got out there but always talked to Marc. John left back to San Diego around middle June. Marc was living in Iguana as a Site manager for Construction with his wife and son Kai. I talked to this guy almost every day. Whether is was over some beers at the bar or in the water. I am really stoked to have met him.
This guy is truly amazing from living in Spain to Indo to Nicaragua. He is a man well travelled and not done. He worked under Pili at the beach club. Countless hilarious nights including the legendary Mag Rock Party.
Working as a chef in the beach club I talked to him almost every day. One of the most fun days Fernando, Simon, and I spent an entire day in the town of Rivas walking around the open air markets and stopping for a Tona if we got thirsty. We got thirsty alot.
She helped out/ran the breakfast at the beach club, Thanks for all the times you let me make a tab! A cool person that was originally from Hawaii.
A competitor of NSR, he rode a long board every single day no matter the conditions.
Owner of a tienda inside the gates of Iguana that I made frequent stops to. Whether it was for a Cola, a Tona, or some homemade treats. Caesar and his wife were always a joy to see.
Alma worked in the NSR office with Iveth and always had a smile on her face. She always thought it was funny when I was trying to speak Spanish, but would lend a hand.
Ivan Knight is the guy. He lives year round in Barcelona but takes a three month vacation to Nicaragua each year. He always sat out the back on his 90s style pipe gun, that he bought used for $100. Super funny guy to talk to; a musician and writer as well. Our paths will cross again hopefully.
This has to be one of the happiest people alive on earth. She always laughs and loves life. It is impossible to hold a conversation with her without your mood cheering up to that bright smile and laugh. I worked closest to her while shooting pictures of rentals.
I met Maricio through the Kersons and by the time I left Nica he moved into the Iguana condos. Great guy to talk to and trade some waves with.
Originally from Colorado he moved to Nicaragua and manages Rentals similar to what NSR does. Great person to share a couple brews with or split some waves. One of the Kings of Ponga Drops. He is married, so he never really went out with us; although he always gave us some pretty funny advice to live through.
Simon would deal directly with Zack all the time setting up boat trips for the NSR guests. Zack is a Businessman at heart. It was always sick talking to him. On multiple occasions he had beers on order for us when Simon and I got out of the water at sunset.
Tom is a grade A character. He has an awesome dog named Moses. For the most part strictly a Ponga Drops charger. Made sure to always talk to Tom when I had a chance.
Hayden ran a bike rental place. But the coolest thing he was doing was building mountain bike courses by hand in the surrounding hills and mountains. Really rad dude always rode a turquise Stretch F4.
If you go to Iguana you are bound to see this guy get the best right barrels. He is always in the right spot. His home being in Iguana, and being a Local gives him the choice of any wave he wants. Lesther definitely gave me some of the best lefts this summer while he waiting for his perfect right. Which he seemed to always get. Tube Master.
Kiki and Keani
Kiki is Lesther's Floridian wife. Super down to earth person with great attitude and she kills it at surfing. And of course there new born baby Keani. Congrats, he is most likely going to be a tube master as well.
Head Bar tender at the Iguana Beach Club and Simon's roommate. From Argentina he always had his Yerba Mate. You must wait for the seed.
Awesome individual who worked on the FInca Santa Marta farm. Unfortunately her house burnt down this summer but that did not damper her good attitude a bit. She has an amazing focus and way of life.
The boss, the roomate, the surfer, the dronemaster, the golfer.
He works at the Legendary Don Elroys as a bar tender(possible more now) and his family runs a fishing boat. All the shots of us fishing were with Willy. Such a funny guy this photo has a weird background because it was my last night right before the barn burner at Eloys. Good times.
